\"ShapeLink_TrippLite_small\"To get the most value from Visio it\u2019s important to understand how Visio shapes can be much more than clipart when properly designed.\u00a0 The shapes can be programmed through their ShapeSheets to behave in ways that will automate and facilitate the drawing process.\u00a0 One of the most powerful behaviors is the ability to link to external information via the Web through specially designed Hyperlinks.\u00a0 In other words, we can give you the ability to simply click on the shape and gain access to a wealth of additional information.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s an example of how that works.\u00a0 All of the shapes we develop for equipment manufacturers include Visimation\u2019s ShapeLink<\/strong>\u2122 technology.\u00a0 ShapeLink is our automated method of inserting Hyperlinks that perform specific tasks.\u00a0 For instance, with Tripp Lite<\/a> products, each shape contains two ShapeLinks that you can access by right clicking on the shape as shown below:<\/p>\n

One ShapeLink sends you directly to the product page for specifications, literature, etc.\u00a0 The other ShapeLink sends you to a Reseller Price page where you can compare the prices at various resellers and click a \u201cBuy\u201d button to start the purchase process.\u00a0 You can click on the images below to see the actual pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another example of how useful ShapeLinks can be is in our MapShapes.\u00a0 In the US States and Counties<\/a> sets each state and county contains a right click ShapeLink to its Wikipedia information page.<\/div>\n

In addition to the Visio stencils in our MapShapes, we include Enhanced Windows Metafiles (.emf) images for use in non-Visio applications.\u00a0 However, .emf files cannot contain Hyperlinks although you can add them manually after you\u2019ve inserted the image into a Word document or PowerPoint show for example.\u00a0 Visio provides a richer and more powerful platform that enables us to deliver this capability with no effort on the part of the end user.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
